In this session, we turn to the first stage of The IMPACT Model and the concept of a conversation with IMPACT.
Understand what a conversation with IMPACT is. You'll explore how impactful conversations, both with yourself (self-talk) and with others, help you clarify thinking and decision-making.
Recognise its qualities. You'll identify what distinguishes conversations with IMPACT from other conversations through the qualities and characteristics they possess.
See why it matters in retirement. You'll understand why the quality of your conversations plays such a vital role. Conversations influence identity, relationships, and social connections, all of which are key to building a successful retirement.
Conversations shape everything, from your inner world to your outer one, from your relationships to your wellbeing. Retiring successfully, therefore, depends on the conversations you are having.
Maintaining, upgrading, stepping back from or even ending conversations to support your retirement.
Working on your inner dialogue to similarly maintain it where it is helpful, upgrade it if it is not, and end any harmful ways of talking to yourself.
Build actionable communication strategies for internal and external conversations, such as explicit contracting (do's and don'ts, wants and needs) and assertiveness.
Watch this brief introductory video to get an overview of the Conversations With IMPACT concept.
These are the attributes of a conversation with IMPACT, one that makes the difference you are after by changing perspective, producing action and building personal resources. When these qualities are present in sufficient quantities, progress becomes not only possible but predictable.
