Three is a magic number, as they say. So you’re invited to write three intentions for this course and for your retirement journey more broadly. Aim for variety, perhaps one each for wellbeing, relationships, and personal growth. Of course, you can choose your own themes if others feel more relevant.
Wellbeing: "I will take responsibility for maintaining the physical and psychological resources I want to rely on in retirement."
Relationships: "I will make time for the people I value and have the conversations that matter."
Personal growth: "I will take responsibility for continuing my personal development by learning, experimenting, and challenging myself."
You can refine or replace your intentions as your understanding of retirement evolves. What matters most is that they reflect who you are now and who you're becoming, even if they take a few rewrites.
Why does this intention matter to me right now?
How will I know I'm living in line with it?
What thoughts or behaviours support it, and which might get in the way?
What daily or weekly actions could help it take shape?
To deepen your intentions, consider: Why does this intention matter to me right now? How will I know I’m living in line with it? What thoughts, actions or emotions support it, and which might get in the way? What daily or weekly activities could help it take shape?
Examples of possible intentions:
Wellbeing: “I will make time for...”
Relationships: “I will invest time in..."
Personal growth: “I will stay curious, try and learning from..."
